About the Journal

There is no fee for submitting or reviewing your article.

All articles published in the KnowEx Food and Agriculture Journal are open access and freely available online immediately upon publication. This is made possible by an Article Processing Charge (APC) that covers the range of publishing services we provide. These services include the provision of online tools for editors and authors, article production and permanent hosting, liaison with abstracting and indexing services, and comprehensive customer support.

The APC, which is payable only after your manuscript is editorially accepted and before publication, is charged to either you, your funder, institution, or employer.

The standard APC levied for each article accepted for publication is $500. This fee applies to corresponding authors whose primary affiliation is located in a High-income or Upper-middle-income economy, as defined by the World Bank Group's income classification.

To reduce financial barriers for researchers, a significantly discounted APC of $150 is offered for corresponding authors whose primary affiliation is located in a Lower-middle-income or Low-income economy, as defined by the World Bank Group. The full, current list of country classifications is available to download on the World Bank's website.

Furthermore, to actively support local researchers, we offer corresponding authors whose primary affiliation is in Sri Lanka a 90% discount on the standard APC, resulting in a discounted price for publication of 15,000 LKR

We believe that financial burden should never be a barrier to publishing your research. Therefore, if you are automatically not included in a discount category but are still experiencing financial difficulties, we encourage you to contact us at the submission stage (or immediately upon acceptance) through the provided contact details to discuss a confidential application for an APC waiver

Indexing and Archiving Services

This Journal is abstracted and indexed by Google Scholar and Crossref. Every article published in the KnowEx Social Sciences Journal is preserved and archived in a DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

KnowEx Food and Agriculture provides PlumX Metrics (by Elsevier) for researchers, where they can visualize the research impact from their individual pieces of work.

Peer-review & Editorial Process

Each submitted manuscript that falls within the scope of the journal goes through a specific double-blind review. Typically, the Editor-in-Chief will select two scholars in the field who will read and comment on the manuscript and make a recommendation regarding publication. Reviewers are instructed to evaluate the clarity of the research question, the soundness of the methodology, and the alignment of the conclusions with the evidence presented.

The Editor-in-Chief has sole and final authority for all editorial decisions.  The Editor-in-Chief may request additional rounds of review, consult with additional reviewers, or request that authors make revisions to the manuscript before it can be published.

When the manuscript under review is returned to the authors for revision, the anonymous reviewers’ comments are attached. After the author(s) edit the manuscript in accordance with the reviewers' recommendations, they resubmit it through the system for initial review and admission to re-review. The corrections made to the text should be indicated in a different color from the main one, so that they are visible to the reviewers for a second review.

A manuscript will be fully accepted only after all the revisions required by the editor and the reviewers have been made.
